Unwell… but thankful

I’ve been a little scarce this week with my posting and my blog visiting, so if I haven’t popped in to visit lately, please know that I will soon. I’ve been unwell. I woke up around 2 AM on Friday with that well familiar ringing and sloshing in my ears that could only mean one thing — yet another ear infection. I’ve had them since I was an infant. Most people outgrow them. I never did.

The urgent care opened at 8 AM and I had to be to work at 8:30 but I figured if I was the first one there I could probably be in and out and get to work mostly on time. Guess again. I pulled into the lot at 7:45. Full. Seemed everyone in town had some kind of ailment on Saturday morning 😦 But I was finally seen and given a prescription for an antibiotic and sent on my way, only a half hour late for work. I made it halfway through the day before calling it quits.

By Saturday night the infection had moved into my jaw. I could not even open my mouth without pain. I spent Sunday and Monday alternately sleeping and holding ice packs on my jaw.

By Tuesday morning the swelling and most of the pain were gone, so I made it to work. We’d had a snowstorm overnight but thankfully not as much as was predicted, so other than going out early to warm and brush off the car, it didn’t slow me down too much. No shoveling required 🙂 Our town looked so pretty with a fresh coat of snow. They have set up the Christmas trees in the park for this weekend’s tree lighting ceremony.

Being sick always makes me so thankful for the days when I am well. And it makes me thankful for doctors and antibiotics and PTO, for those times when I am not.

I’m also feeling thankful today that Chester’s Miracle is off to a wonderful start! I checked my Amazon sales rank last night and was thrilled to see it was ranked at #246 in Religious Romance and #795 in Two-Hour Romance Short Reads. Yayy! It’s not often my books rank in the top 1000 🙂

I’m not sure how the other Extravaganza titles are doing. I’ve learned not to check, for fear that I will covet my neighbor’s sales rank 🙂

In life you have to take the good with the bad. The easy with the hard. But even in the hard times, there is always, always something to be thankful for. I hope you all have a blessed and thankful Thursday!
